Leadership Starts with Listening
Adaptability isn’t just a leadership skill – it’s a mindset that has shaped my entire career. Leading through change has meant stepping into the unknown, adapting across cultures, and finding strength in uncertainty. When I moved into a broader leadership role across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, I quickly learned that success depended not on having all the answers, but on staying curious, open, and brave.
One pivotal moment came during our expansion into Saudi Arabia. To bridge differences and build trust, we created spaces for cross-cultural exchange. Listening deeply and honouring diverse perspectives helped the team feel seen, valued, and empowered to lead change themselves.
Flexibility and resilience were equally critical when tough decisions arose, like appointing an external leader. Transparency, empathy, and a forward-focused mindset helped the team navigate uncertainty and emerge stronger together.
Through it all, I’ve learned that fostering a culture of adaptability starts with leadership that listens, empowers, and embraces change with optimism. When teams feel safe to grow and innovate, they not only weather change – they lead it.
